McMurry University announces $10 million endowment campaign
ABILENE, Texas - Friday was a big day for McMurry University as the school announced a $10,000,000 dollar campaign to endow their new school of business. University officials say they have already reached 90 percent of their goal much in part to longtime Abilene bank executive Walter Johnson and his wife Virginia.
The endowment will fund scholarships, as well as faculty positions and training.
"We look forward to partnering with Abilene. I know one of the things the chamber has been working on very diligently, is getting an entrepreneurial spirit in Abilene and we believe that McMurry University is going to help Abilene achieve that goal," said Dr. Sandra Harper, President of McMurry University.
Other major donors to the endowment include the Dodge-Jones Foundation, the Diane Graves Owen Foundation as well as Sara and Paul Graham.
