Police: Third suspect in Cedar Street shooting questioned

A third suspect wanted by Abilene police in connection with a shooting that occurred May 13 at a Cedar Street home is in custody on an unrelated charge, according to APD Chief Stan Standridge.

Standridge confirmed to KTXS Thursday that the suspect, who has not been identified at this time, was questioned by police about the shooting. The suspect was taken into custody Wednesday for a separate charge.

Police said two men – Daniel Earl Johnson, 21, and Nicholas James Woodall, Jr., 23 – were arrested Friday after they were in a vehicle "which opened fire" at the home in the 1500 block of Cedar Street.

One victim, a 20-year-old male, was reportedly in stable condition at Hendrick Medical Center.

"[The victim] indicated that he and Johnson had a rivalry over a woman," a search warrant said.

Johnson was seen in a black vehicle with two people, which then fled the scene after the shooting, according to the warrant.

Woodall was charged with aggravated assault and released from jail on a $25,000 bond. Johnson was charged with aggravated assault and released on a $50,000 bond.
