At UFC Disch Falk Field on the campus of the University of Texas, the Wylie Bulldogs made history in an attempt to avenge their semifinal loss last year. Taking on Texarkana Pleasant Grove in the 4A semi, Zach Smith extended the lead in the 2 nd inning with a base hit to right center. Cameron Hanna would come in to score, improving the lead, 2-0 Bulldogs.

Then up 4 runs in the 4 th , Bryce Gist chipped in with a sac fly to right field bringing home Smith -- one of three runs Gist brought home – as Wylie's lead grew 7-2. But the Hawks wouldn't go away quietly, putting up 3 runs into the final inning, but Wylie would survive, advancing to the state championship final. This achievement, marking their first state tournament win, 7-5. A big day for the bulldogs who fell short last year.

Wylie will face Salado in the 4A championship finale on Thursday, at 6:30 p.m.
