Wylie punches state tournament ticket in comeback win over Godley

The other Big Country baseball team fighting for a shot at state, is the Wylie Bulldogs. But Friday, in a rain-postponed single game battle, the dominant Bulldogs had to pull one out against Godley.

The 1-4A regional final held on Friday afternoon in Wichita Falls at Hoskins Field.

Godley had a 4-2 lead in the 3 rd inning, where Wylie had a really good defensive play. Brett Brown's shot to center would be caught by Mac Mueller, and he made a big throw to first to get a double play. A huge defensive stand for Wylie, and Mac showing his arm strength.

With a three run Godley lead in the 7 th , that's where the Wylie run began.

With the bases loaded, Jared Asbil would find the gap up the middle, and a run comes in to make it 5-3. After three more runs grab the lead for the Bulldogs, Bryce Gist finishes it with a single to center. Another run comes in to make it 7-5 Bulldogs, and Wylie does it.

The comeback stands as a double play ends the ballgame and Wylie is headed back to Austin for a second-consecutive year, winning the 1-4A regional over Godley, 7-5.
