2 killed in Cross Plains house fire
CROSS PLAINS, Texas - Two people died in a blaze Saturday morning in the city of Cross Plains, according to Callahan County deputies.
Chief Deputy Rick Jowers said his office arrived to the fire at 5:40 a.m. after the homeowner called dispatch.
The Cross Plains Volunteer Fire Department and Rising Star Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene as well as the sheriff's office.
Five people were inside the home located at 508 N. 3 rd St., but only three made it out alive, said Cross Plains VFD Fire Chief Ricky Carouth.
According to Carouth, the fire originated in the attic and the cause is still under investigation.
The names of the victims haven't been released.
The fire was completely put out Saturday afternoon and the home was considered a complete loss.
