5 Big Country counties added to Gov. Abbott's disaster declaration
AUSTIN, Texas - Gov. Greg Abbott announced the addition of 15 counties to his June 1 disaster declaration Wednesday, and multiple Big Country areas were included.
Brown, Callahan, Comanche, Eastland, and Stephens counties were among the 15 added to the declaration, making them eligible to apply for assistance and resources from the state.
Heavy rains from late May through the beginning of June resulted in damage to roads and structures throughout the area, and repair costs were estimated in the millions.
Thirty-one counties were listed on Abbott's original declaration.
