Boil water notice lifted for Cisco, officials urge conservation
ABILENE, Texas - The boil water notice put into effect earlier this month in Cisco was lifted Wednesday.
But there's a catch.
We spoke to Cisco Mayor James King, who said the city is still operating on a portable water treatment plant to get treated water back into town. As long as residents don't use more than what the portable plant can provide, the boil water notice will remain lifted.
All of the tests conducted by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality show the water is safe to drink and use without boiling.
Officials said they do want to emphasize they are still under stage three water restrictions for the foreseeable future. The portable plant is only capable of treating about40 percent of the water they normally would use.
The mayor estimates it could take up to 18 months for the new treatment plant to be up and running.
