Despite loss, Lady Wolves cap off historic year

They battled as underdogs all year, and Thursday night in Austin, their dream season came just short.

Colorado city softball was run ruled 11-0 in 5 innings by West High School in Thursday night's 3A state championship at McCombs Field. It was the Lady Trojans' first-ever state title, for a team who came out swinging with a 6-run first inning and never looked back. The Lady Wolves just couldn't recover from an early deficit, but end the year 33-9 after qualifying for their first trip to the state tournament -- ever.

The accomplishment in itself making this season, the most productive in program history. Hats off Colorado City, job well done.
