Firefighters battle grass fire near Cross Plains


CROSS PLAINS, Texas - A grass fire kept firefighters busy Friday afternoon.

The fire started in a wheat field about five miles southwest of Cross Plains.

The Burkett fire chief said the fire started near the Coleman/Callahan County line at about 2:00 p.m.

He said someone was working on equipment at the time.

The fire burned about a hundred acres.

It took several fire departments about an hour and a half to put out that fire.
