Funeral arrangements set for Ballinger teen killed in wreck

BALLINGER, Texas - Funeral arrangements have been set for a Ballinger teen killed Wednesday evening.

Taylor Dyess Bowman, 16, died in a car accident after trying to avoid a dog on U.S. 67.

According to the Lange Funeral Home website, visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Old Runnels Cemetery. There will also be a candlelight service at 9 p.m. Sunday at the Ballinger High School track field.

A 16-year-old Ballinger girl was killed Wednesday evening while driving on U.S. 67.

According to the Department of Public Safety, Taylor Dyess Bowman was driving north on U.S. 67 – just six miles north of Ballinger – when a dog ran into the road.

Bowman swerved to the right and ran off the road, trying to correct by swerving back to the left, crossing both lanes of traffic, and skidding into the ditch, DPS said in a news release. The vehicle rolled and Bowman was ejected.

Her body was taken to the Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Services for the teen are pending.
