Haskell County man gets life in prison for 10th DWI
HASKELL COUNTY, Texas - A 63-year-old man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for his 10 th Driving While Intoxicated conviction.
The Haskell County District Attorney's Office confirmed that Usvaldo Fernandez of Rochester was found guilty of DWI Wednesday.
During the trial, Haskell County District Attorney Mike Fouts showed jurors that Fernandez had five previous misdemeanor DWI convictions, and four felony DWI convictions. He also had two felony convictions for escape, and one for robbery.
The jury of 10 men and two women took those convictions into consideration when sentencing Fernandez. He was sentenced to life in prison and ordered to pay a fine of $10,000.
