Putnam fire chief asking residents to conserve water

PUTNAM, Texas - The fire chief in Putnam is asking people there to conserve as much water as possible.

Chief Marty Smith said there is still water in the tank there, but it's running out and there's no way to refill it.

Chief Smith said that's because Putnam's water comes from Cisco.

Cisco's water treatment plant was damaged in the flood there earlier this week and can't pump water west.

Chief Smith estimates Putnam will have enough water to last them until Tuesday or Wednesday.

Chief Smith wasn't sure how long it would take to fix that water treatment plant in Cisco.

The chief said bottled water is available at the Putnam Volunteer Fire Department.
