SOFTBALL: Brownwood loses to La Grange, 7-1, in 4A state semifinal
AUSTIN, Texas - La Grange defeated Brownwood 7-1 in the semifinals of the Class 4A state softball tourney.
La Grange (39-2) advances to the state championship game. Brownwood finishes the year 25-9-1.
The game started three hours late because of bad weather.
Austin experienced a heavy dose of rain early Thursday, leaving Brownwood softball players and fans out to dry.
The original start time of today's qualifier between Brownwood (25-8-1) and La Grange (38-2) was set for 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
The UIL announced two separate weather delay updates that pushed the game back three hours. At the earliest, the game will be played at 12:30 p.m.
The Lady Lions defeated Snyder, which had played the last two years at state, to advance to today's matchup against La Grange, the No. 1 team in the Class 4A state bracket.
It marks the first time Brownwood has made it to the state semifinals in 20 years. The winner of today's game will advance to play in the Class 4A finals on Saturday. It will face either Paris North Lamar (28-7) or Needville (25-15).
