Wylie, Clyde baseball programs remain near the top of season rankings

ABILENE, TX - With just four games to go in the 2017 Texas High School baseball regular season, two Big Country programs continue to remain near the top of their respective classifications, in the weekly rankings.

In class 4A, the defending UIL state champ Wylie Bulldogs will keep the second-spot, entering this second to last week at 21-1 on the season, and in control of the district 5-4A race. Wylie will have two road games this week, at Sweetwater and Brownwood -- the latter a must win to ensure the district crown.

For 3A, the undefeated Clyde Bulldogs are continuing one of, if not the best seasons ever for a Clyde team. Colby Rowely's group is an outstanding 24-0 on the year and perfect in 5-3A entering this week, and remains in second place for the weekly rankings.

Clyde also will be on the road this week, with Tuesday's game at Merkel, followed by a Friday trip to Coahoma before a home stretch road game at Jim Ned next Tuesday to end the season..

For all the Big Country programs, its an important week as well with district races on the line in the race for the postseason that begins Tuesday night.
