Brown County fraud victim loses $30,000
BROWN COUNTY, Texas - A Brown County man's identity was stolen leaving him in the hole for $30,000, according to deputies.
They met with William Neaves of Brookesmith on Wednesday to discuss a possible fraud case. Neaves told deputies an unknown person obtained his personal information and counterfeited personal checks under his name, according to the police report.
Neaves claimed to have lost $30,000.
The Brown County Sheriff's Office hasn't identified a suspect in the case.
