Brownwood City Council approves $3 million in bonds

BROWNWOOD, Texas - Brownwood City Council approved the issuance of $3 million in bonds Tuesday. Some of that money is expected to go towards completing several street and road improvement projects.

The decision on Tuesday was 4-to-1 with Councilman Ed McMillian being the only nay vote. He said he offered the dissenting vote because he thought a lesser amount of $2 million would suffice.

The city requested bids from 22 banks, but only Texas Bank in Brownwood responded, according to the agenda item briefing sheet.

With the approval of $3 million in bonds, the council will now be ready to receive the funds on July 12, according to the city.
