BROWNWOOD, Texas - The city of Brownwood is expected to hire a new police chief next week.

According to Tuesday's City Council agenda, council members "consider confirming the appointment of a new police chief."

The city began its search following Chief Mike Corley's announcement in February that he would retire after nearly 40 years in law enforcement.

KTXS asked City Manager Emily Crawford for the name of the finalist. She said the city will release it on Tuesday.

One change for the new police chief, they'll have to live inside city limits. Last month, the city council approved a rule to require the police chief and fire chief to live in the city.

Corley lives in Early. Fire Chief Del Albright lives in Coleman, but is moving to Brownwood.
