Brownwood murder suspect expected to plead guilty this week
BROWNWOOD, Texas —
A Brownwood man accused of shooting someone in the head with a shotgun is expected to plead guilty to murder charges Friday.
Preston Browne, 25, has waived his right to a jury trial, according to the 35th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
Police arrested Browne in May of 2017 for reportedly killing Larry Irvin, 29, at a house behind the Brownwood Coliseum, located on the 300 block of North Greenleaf Street.
According to court documents, Browne shot Irvin in the head with a shotgun and then immediately confessed to witnesses.
Browne was also indicted by a grand jury with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, according to court documents.
He remains in jail on bonds totaling $610,000.
