Brownwood: Pecan Bayou expected to crest over weekend
BROWNWOOD, Texas - The National Weather Service is forecasting Brownwood's Pecan Bayou to crest at 16 feet on Saturday.
That is about "10 to 12 inches higher than water levels experienced on Wednesday, June 1," Brownwood City Manager Emily Crawford in a news release.
"The Brown County Water Improvement District expects the lake to crest at five feet over spillway," Crawford said.
The Emergency Operations Center will remain at increased readiness over the weekend to handle additional flooding as the water levels rise. There are still six high profile vehicles with the National Guard and boats from the Texas Parks and Wildlife available to render aid.
More streets could close because of the water levels.
