Trial postponed for Brownwood man accused of child sex crimes
BROWNWOOD, Texas -- A Brownwood man who's facing allegations of sexually assaulting a young child for five years filed a motion to waive his right to a jury trial.
On Monday, Judge Steve Ellis approved Richard Leach's request for a bench trial. He's facing a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child, according to the 35th Judicial District Clerk's Office.
The 41-year-old's trial is now scheduled for the week of April 23, according to the district clerk.
Court documents stated he sexually abused a child under the age of 14 from 2009 to 2014.
Last year, a state district judge issued a protective order in the case after Leach reportedly threatened the victim to drop the charges.
