Police say a man is facing charges after a computer repair worker found child pornography on his computer.

An arrest affidavit states 71-year-old Robert Louis Batze took his computer tower to a Best Buy store on October 10, 2017 because his internal hard drive was not working. He asked the technicians to replace the hard drive with a new one and to transfer all of the data onto an external hard drive he also brought with him.

While the technician was transferring the data, he spotted images he believed were child pornography. The police were called, and the computer was seized.

The technician told police the images appeared to be of children as young as 13 years old engaged in sexual acts with adult men. Police obtained a search warrant, and the computer was turned over to the SAPD Computer Forensic Unit. The arrest affidavit states that during their search, they found approximately 2200 images of child pornography on the computer.

Batze is charged with Possession of Child Pornography.
