Police: Abilene man living at home with mom downloaded child porn for weeks

Ryan Shane Altman

An Abilene man downloaded child pornography for more than six weeks at the house he shares with his mother, according court documents.

Ryder Shane Altman, 26, was arrested in June after police served a search warrant at his home in the 800 block of Beretta Drive.

According to a document that was just unsealed, police found evidence that he downloaded pictures and video of adults having sex with infants on both his computer and phone.

According to police, Altman initially said he did not know anything about it. But when his mom told him to tell the truth, Altman said he had “downloaded videos from a website streaming nude women and that some of the videos were of underage females.”

Altman would not answer when police asked why he continued to download videos for more than six weeks after that.

Police said a large portion of the images found on Altman’s phone were of “infants, toddlers and children that appear to be under the age of seven.”

Last month, Altman pleaded guilty to possession with intent to promote child pornography. He was sentenced to 10-years probation and 240 hours of community service. He was also required to register as a sex offender.
