SWEETWATER, Texas - Sweetwater football is back to the third round where things don't get any easier as the Mustangs get set to square off with undefeated and ranked Graham on Friday.

We've documented the newness surrounding the Mustangs program this year, but now it seems after a brief district hiccup, they're back to where they're used to being - in the win column. It wasn't easy last Friday in the area round as Sweetwater came back with a narrow win over Vernon - having even trailed in the second half.

But a good sign has been the offensive adjustments under first-year head coach Ben McGehee. Some of those changes weren't noticeable until following that 2 game losing streak in district that saw the Mustangs drop a nail-biter to Seminole, and one to Monahans.

With last week's display of offense when they needed it most - in addition to dominating wins over Greenwood and Perryton, the Mustangs hope now that they've got the tools to challenge a high-octane team like Graham.

"You know we were kind of going through some of the execution errors that come along with some install stuff," said head coach Ben McGehee. "But I think our kids have kind of grasped the concepts a little bit better at this point, and we're kind of starting to roll with some more run-game concepts and things like that that we've introduced these last few weeks."

Sweetwater and Graham get going from ACU's new Wildcat Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m.
