Disgraced Sweetwater attorney denied request for new trial
SAN ANGELO, Texas —
Troubled Sweetwater attorney John Stacy Young's request for a new trial based on the emergence of new evidence was denied by a Tom Green County judge Thursday.
Young, who has a checkered past, is serving an 11-year prison sentence for forging the will of the late John Edward Sullivan, a millionaire who lived in San Angelo that was one of Young's past clients.
The Texas State Bar is also trying to disbar Young.
In September 2012, Young plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of unlawfully carrying a weapon stemming from an incident in June 2011 when he pointed a gun at a Sweetwater police officer while he was drunk.
