Local radio legend named 2018 San Angelo Citizen of the Year
SAN ANGELO, Texas —
Rick Mantooth, Vice President and General Manager of Foster Communications Co., has been named the 2018 San Angelo Citizen of the Year by the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce.
Mantooth has been involved in radio broadcasting for over 40 years, 34 years of which have been in San Angelo.
Mantooth has also served as an on-air personality at radio station 94.7 KIXY-FM, where he performs under the name of Jay Michaels while speaking to listeners in the San Angelo area.
He also has experience in newspaper and television ventures and has won numerous awards for producing great local advertisements.
While not working in the media, Mantooth is a pillar in the San Angelo community, participating in numerous local charitable efforts, taking on many leadership roles on various councils and committees in the San Angelo community and serving at his local church.
Elta Joyce Murphey McAfee, the 2017 San Angelo Citizen of the Year, presented Mantooth with this year's edition of the award.
