APD, Texas Rangers receive over $200K in emergency funding for bomb investigations
Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Monday the release of emergency funding to assist the Austin Police Department and Texas Rangers with the bomb investigations.
Gov. Abbott said $265,000 will be used to purchase seven portable x-ray systems for use in bomb detection and responding to suspicious package investigations.
“I want to ensure everyone in the Austin region and the entire state that Texas is committed to providing every resource necessary to make sure these crimes are solved as quickly as possible,” said Governor Abbott.
The governor's officer says these x-ray systems are used by bomb technicians on scene and provide clear visual evidence for rapid assessment of a package’s safety.
Hundreds of law enforcement agents are investigating four bombing in Austin since March 2, that have left two people dead and three others injured.
