Eastland, Stephens counties added to federal disaster declaration
AUSTIN, Texas - Eastland and Stephens counties will soon be getting assistance from the federal government after a disaster declaration request made by Gov. Greg Abbott was approved Wednesday.
Abbott requested federal assistance for the counties after severe flooding destroyed roadways and damaged structures in more than a dozen counties across Texas.
Earlier in June, water from Lake Cisco flooded over the spillway and tore away a section of Highway 6. Residents in the area reported flooding in many homes.
Under the federal disaster declaration, the counties will be able to apply for individual assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
