ODESSA, Texas - UPDATE: Paul Lujan was taken into custody around 6 p.m. outside the Ector County Courthouse.
A search is underway for a murder suspect after he was accidentally released from federal custody.
Authorities are looking for Paul Lujan, 32, who is currently wanted for state murder charges.
Asked where he escaped from, the Odessa Police Department offered no comment, saying it is a federal jurisdiction case.
Lujan was originally arrested in connection with a homicide that occurred outside of what is now known as Brewski's Bar in August 2009.
Police said after multiple interviews with witnesses and processing evidence, they believe that Lujan caused an injury that resulted in the death of Roger Lee Vasquez Jr., 22.
According to court documents, a witness came forward and told police that a witness to the murder said Lujan stabbed Vasquez, Jr.
