Police took three children into custody after they allegedly tried to break into a car in a parking lot, then stole a car from a newspaper delivery driver.

According to police, the children, between the ages of 12 and 14, tried to break into a car in a Walmart parking lot near Loop 1604 and Highway 281, shortly before 4 a.m. on Tuesday.

When that didn't work, police say the young suspects then ran off and later stole a car belonging to a newspaper delivery driver. Officers spotted the car and started chasing the suspects through the towns of Hollywood Park and Hill Country Village.

They caught up to the car on Tomahawk Trail, located near Bitters Road and Highway 281. Investigators said the kids tried to run off, but were quickly caught. It's unclear what charges the suspects are facing.
