Sprawling, abandoned 30-bedroom Texas home eyed as veterans' center
MANVEL, Texas (AP) - A sprawling 30-bedroom home south of Houston that was abandoned after never being completed may find new life as a residential center for veterans.
Construction on the home in Manvel was started in 2001 but never completed. The Houston Chronicle reports that real estate listings show it has 30 full bathrooms and another 10 half bathrooms. Prior listings have said it has more than 45 bedrooms.

Organizers still need to secure financing to complete construction and also need approval from the city to rezone the land from residential to light commercial.
The home would serve as a residential facility allowing veterans to have family members stay with them. Transportation, treatment for conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder and other services also are planned.
