Texas boy fatally struck by vehicle while running from wasps
LEWISVILLE, Texas (AP) - Police say an 8-year-old boy running from wasps was struck and killed by a sport utility vehicle in North Texas.
Lewisville police say the boy - identified as Alexander Ramirez - was playing with friends Sunday afternoon in a mobile home park when they disturbed a wasp nest. They ran away to avoid being stung.
A 20-year-old woman driving the SUV hit the boy when he ran across her path.
No charges have been filed and the incident is under investigation.
Police say intoxication and excessive speed are not factors in the death.
Lewisville is about 25 miles northwest of Dallas.
