Texas man charged with 8 sex assaults, more possible
HOUSTON (AP) - Authorities have filed eight aggravated sexual assault charges against a Houston man accused of attacks since 2014.
Police said Monday the arrest of the 33-year-old Marquis V. Tate is the result of investigations of 13 sexual assault cases in Houston's Fifth Ward neighborhood.
Investigators say Tate has been linked to the assaults either through DNA analysis or photo identification. It's not immediately known if charges are pending in other cases but police say there may be additional victims.
Police say Tate began targeting women in 2012. No sex assaults matching his description were reported again until later in 2014, when authorities say he returned after living out of state.
An attorney for Tate did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
