A jury has found a woman accused of shooting and killing her boyfriend in 2017 guilty of murder.

Investigators said the shooting happened at an apartment building along Southeast Military Drive sometime on Feb. 20, 2017.

Jamie Lynn McCord and her boyfriend were fighting when she grabbed a gun and shot 30-year-old Ryan Matthew Perez in the chest. She then drove him to Mission Trails Hospital, but he was later taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center where he died.

McCord allegedly gave police different accounts of the incident, including one version in which she claimed Perez shot himself while cleaning the weapon. However, a witness told officers she heard Perez tell McCord, "Just do it," followed by the sound of gunfire. Gun residue was later found on McCord's hands.

McCord was found guilty of murder Tuesday afternoon. Her sentencing is scheduled for June 7.
