Chad Garneau

Chad Garneau joined the KTXS October 2006 as the morning meteorologist, fulfilling a lifelong goal of being a meteorologist. Chad admits that, while he does get plenty of weather-related questions from viewers, the most common is "What time do you wake up?" His answer, "I try to go to bed around 4:30 p.m. When you love your job as much as I do, you find a way to make it work."

Chad was thrilled to learn that he would be forecasting weather in Abilene.  His interest in storms began long before he arrived at the station. "As a child, I spent my summers watching storm chasing documentaries from National Geographic—and now, I'm living my dream." Originally from Waterford , Michigan , a suburb of Detroit , Chad traveled over 1,300 miles to join the KTXS Storm Team.  He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma , where he earned his bachelor's degree in meteorology and fell in love with all types of weather. "I couldn't have chosen a better place to forecast the weather than Abilene ," Chad said. "From tornadoes and hailstorms to extreme heat and even a snowflake every now and then, this city has everything a weatherman could ask for." Besides weather, Chad 's favorite things include working out, listening to new rock artists, watching football religiously and occasionally cooking. You can catch Chad on weekday mornings from 5:30 a.m. – 7 a.m.
