Janet Kwak is proud to be part of the KTXS News Team. She traded in golden beaches for open skies and undiluted fields in 2006 after moving to West Central Texas from Southern California . But she is happy to call the Big Country her new home.

Janet graduated from U.C. Berkeley with degrees in Political Science, Mass Communications, and Spanish Literature. During her time at U.C. Berkeley, she studied in countries like Spain and South Korea ; she is fluent in three languages.

While preparing for a career in law, she was bitten by the news bug after interning at KTVU2 in Northern California 's bay area. From there she's been an on-air talent for KALX radio, wrote for KTLA's morning newscasts, and worked at CBS2/KCAL9 in Los Angeles on an Emmy winning story about an undercover ATF agent. She's also reported and produced for a cable station in Orange County . At KTXS she has covered stories ranging from business frauds to the fatal drive-by shooting of a four year old girl.

On her spare time you can catch her whipping up a storm in the kitchen, working out, or volunteering for a local organization that serves victims of domestic violence. She also teaches cooking classes to those with developmental disabilities, and is an active member of Asian American Journalists Association.

If you have any story ideas for Janet, please email her at janetkwak@ktxs.com .
