Mike Skow joined KTXS News as a Weekend Anchor/Reporter in April, 2008, and is originally from Tucson , Arizona. Born and raised in the Old Pueblo, Mike considers himself a true desert rat.

Mike started his journalism career at Tucson 's ABC affiliate, KGUN 9 News.  During his senior year of high school, he was able to shadow reporters, photographers, producers and editors. Even before he received his high school diploma, he was hired part-time.

He received his degree in Journalism from the University of Arizona in
December, 2007.  As a U of A Wildcat and a member of the marching band, The
Pride of Arizona, Mike says he will forever bleed red and blue!

During the summer of his junior year in college, Mike fulfilled his internship
requirements at the local CBS affiliate, KOLD News 13.  While there, he learned
what it takes to be a reporter and anchor! At the end of his internship, Mike
was hired to work as an Assignment Editor and photographer. He covered local
sports and spot news in Tucson , until coming to The Big Country.

Mike was raised on Wildcat basketball and football, and is an avid sports fan.
He enjoys playing football, basketball, and ultimate frisbee. He also enjoys
fine arts, and was heavily involved in acting, singing, and marching band in
both high school and college.

"Life is a journey worth enjoying, so why not smile along the way. I'm excited
to tell your stories and learn what makes Abilene amazing".
