McMurry University football head coach Lance Hinson has announced his team’s 2018 schedule. The 10-game slate features five home and five road contests, and just one non-American Southwest Conference (ASC) contest.

That non-league game will be right out of the chute for the War Hawks when they host Trinity University on Thursday, August 30 (6 p.m.) at Wilford Moore Stadium in the season lid-lifter. It will also be the second-consecutive season with a Thursday evening game to begin the year, after traveling to Oklahoma Panhandle State in 2017. The Aug. 30 date will also be the earliest calendar date on which McM has played an official game, besting the Aug. 31 date versus OPSU last season.

McMurry will play its second-straight home bout – and ASC opener – on September 8 when it hosts Southwestern University (7 p.m.). The following Saturday (Sept. 15, 7 p.m.), the War Hawks face longtime-rival Howard Payne University in Brownwood. McM returns home on Sept. 22 (6 p.m.) to host its most-played opponent – Sul Ross State - for the 88th edition of this match-up.

McMurry will then take to the road for back-to-back games at Texas Lutheran University (Sept. 29, 6 p.m.) and Belhaven University (Oct. 6, 12 p.m.), in Seguin and Jackson, Miss., respectively. The War Hawks return home on Oct. 13 (1 p.m.) and will welcome Louisiana College as the opponent for Homecoming 2018.

McM will have a bye week on Oct. 20 as it prepares to travel to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday, Oct. 27 (1 p.m.) in Belton. McMurry’s final home game of 2018 will be on November 3 (1 p.m.) when East Texas Baptist University rolls into town for the War Hawks’ “Senior Day” game.

McMurry closes the regular season on Nov. 10 (1 p.m.) across town versus Hardin-Simmons University.
