Wildcat men, women fall to Colonels

ACU MBB:

A 12-2 rally late in the second half was not enough for ACU men's basketball, falling to Southland leader Nicholls, 69-65 inside Moody Coliseum on Wednesday. The loss marks just the second time this season, the Wildcats have dropped two-straight games.

Jaren Lewis had 18 points and 21 rebounds, with Jalone Friday, Tevin Foster and Franklin each hitting double digits for ACU.

ACU entered the game in a tie for 6th in the conference standings, and leave 6-6 in league play, 14-11 overall. ACU returns to action Saturday at home against Incarnate Word at 4 p.m.


ACU WBB:

Abilene Christian women's basketball suffered a tough 81-60 loss at Nicholls Wednesday night at Stopher Gymnasium. Three Wildcats reached double figures in scoring led by sophomore Dominique Golightly, who totaled 14 points.

Sierra Allen totaled 10 points in finishing one rebound shy of a double-double, while sophomore Breanna Wright scored 13 points with two 3-pointers and five free throws. The loss dropped ACU's overall and Southland Conference records to 14-8 and 8-4, while the Colonels improved to 10-12 and 5-6.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, Feb. 10 vs. Incarnate Word. Tip off for the women's and men's doubleheader and annual Go Pink Game presented by Hendrick Health is 2 p.m.
