A quick turnaround for Cooper following scrimmage with the Bobcats

ABILENE, TX - Friday in San Angelo, Cooper had their final tune up of the preseason; a date with the Bobcats. The Cougars had some solid moments on the defense, holding the San Angelo run game to minimal yardage in the first quarter, and even recorded two fumble recoveries. The first was a strip fumble recovered by Michael Porras to end a San Angelo drive, and the second was thanks to Devin Harris when he recovered a high snap fumble that put the Cooper in good field position. But the offense struggled. David Rout couldn't get much going, especially with the Bobcat pressure, getting hit hard for a sack fumble in the first live quarter. Rout and the offense just couldn't recover. San Angelo was the only team to find the end zone. Scoring on a 21 yard TD pass from Bobcat quarterback Braden Hucks to Marcel Leak late in the scrimmage.

Cooper head coach Todd Moebes knows that there's a lot of work to be done in a short amount of time.

"We've got to heal up and get ready quick," said Moebes. "It's going to happen in a hurry, in about six days. I just think we'll continue to do what we do, but we've got to be able to look at this film, and be very detailed in how we need to get better on both sides of the football and our coaches certainly help us do that, and we'll start work on Monday."

Cooper begins its' Friday night action on Thursday at Shotwell when they face Rider.
