Cordova to coach girls soccer at 5A Little Elm, Ashford departs Throckmorton
ABILENE, Texas —
The fourth and fifth coaching addition or subtractions in the Big Country on Tuesday come by way of Wylie High School and its storied girls soccer program in addition to Throckmorton football and athletics.
After seven seasons, Manuel Cordova told KTXS on Tuesday night that he will be leaving his post as head coach for Little Elm ISD just west of Frisco, where he will be the girls head coach.
Cordova has been a part of some of the great Wylie teams over the years, combining an impressive 108-48-8 record with three regional tournament trips in the last four years -- including this season's regional final loss to Midlothian Heritage.
He will begin at Little Elm on August 7.
Aaron Ashford also announced his resignation, as the former Craig Middle School employee and Paint Creek football and hoops coach will leave after just one season.
Ashford will travel to Monahans where he will sign on as an assistant football coach. He replaced Brad Hall who left after the 2016 season's 3-7 campaign.
The Greyhounds still are in need of stability after winning UIL State in 2014, with just a 4-6 showing in 2017.
