Lady Lions come one game short after state semifinal loss to La Grange
Austin, TX - In Austin on Thursday, the UIL softball state tournament found a way to avoid the rain, and fit in some games, including the 4A semifinal of Brownwood and La Grange.
La grange came in as top dogs of region one, and there were reason's why. Right off the bat, Amber Loehr smashes a three-run homer in the 1 st inning that makes it 3-1.
Later in the 5 th inning, a sacrifice bunt from Riley Ffisbeck scores Briana Angel, and La Grange begins to pull away as they'd lead 6-1.
And Brownwood couldn't muster a comeback, as later in the top of the 7 th inning, an easy play to 1st is out number three, and that ends the ballgame.
La Grange tops the Lady Lions to get the win 7-1. A disappointing end for Brownwood, but what as season, especially marking a historical year.
"These girls fought every single step of the way," said an emotional Brownwood head coach Jessica Lynn after the game. "A lot of people didn't know we would even be here when we started 0-3 in district so these girls just put their heart and soul into this game, to this season, and to their teammates. I'm so proud of them."
