Wylie walks off on final day of Abilene Invitational
ABILENE, Texas —
The Wylie Bulldogs needed a rally, but took down Wichita Falls Rider 9-8 on the third and final day of the Abilene Invitational on Saturday. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, the bases loaded and trailing by two runs, Wylie's Jaxon Hansen smacked a hit to right field.
The Raider fielder stumbled going after the ball, which helped allow three Bulldogs to score for a walk-off 3-RBI triple by Hansen. The Bulldogs followed up the win with a 7-2 loss to Aledo, capping a 3-1 weekend for Wylie.
Abilene High crushed Brownfield 15-0 on Saturday to finish with two wins and two losses in the invitational, while Cooper took down Sweetwater 10-9. That result gave the Cougars a 2-2 record, and the Mustangs a 1-4 mark for the weekend respectively.
Rider finished 3-1, while Aledo went 5-0 with wins over Sweetwater, Abilene High, Brownfield, Wylie and Cooper.
Brownfield finished the three-day event with an 0-4 record.
