It's been over three months since an openly gay Clyde CISD student began protesting his in-school suspension for wearing nail polish.
Trevor Wilkinson, a senior at Clyde High School, was sent to in-school-suspension in December for violating the dress code.
Wilkinson's story went viral, appearing on Good Morning America and catching the eye of famous rapper Lil Yachty.
403,514 have signed an online petition Wilkinson started hoping to get the policy changed.
Next Monday, March 15 at 6 p.m., the Clyde CISD school board will hold it's “first reading of 2021-2022 draft district dress code,” according to the agenda posted online.
The board will not take any action on the – but could be the first time to hear if they plan on changing it.
Superintendent Kenny Berry said in December that no changes will be made to the dress code this school year.
"The District appreciates the feedback and input on this issue received from members of the community, and will take this into consideration when it conducts its annual review later this school year," said Berry in a statement.
Abilene Pride Alliance sent Clyde CISD a letter in December.
It reads in part, "We are asking for this discriminatory policy to immediately be addressed at your next school board meeting and that the child in question be released from suspension with an official apology from the School District."
We'll continue to follow this story and let you know what happens.
