Abilene streets improving, patches of ice‘still present'

After a busy weekend of ice-related wrecks, Abilene streets are improving.ABILENE, Texas -

Police Chief Stan Standridge said there were no wrecks from 11 p.m. Sunday until 7 a.m. today.

“The streets are improved, but black ice is still present at some intersections and overpasses,” said Standridge.

APD worked 43 accidents between 5 p.m. Saturday and 5p.m. Sunday.

The sun is out, but we’re still below freezing. So, we’re not out of the woods yet. Anything that melts tonight will refreeze overnight.

High temperatures will not be above freezing until Wednesday.

The roads are also looking better in Clyde, according to police.
