'Person of interest' in disappearance of 2 Round Rock girls seen in Colorado


ROUND ROCK, Texas (CBS Austin/SBG) - UPDATE: Police say the man believed to be with two missing Round Rock girls whose mother was found dead over the weekend has been spotted in surveillance video in a southern Colorado town.

Terry Allen Miles, 44, is a person of interest in the death of Tonya Bates and the disappearance of her two children.



Bates was found dead at her home on Dec. 31. At a press conference Wednesday, Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks showed a picture from surveillance video with a Dec. 30 timestamp that showed Miles inside a business in Trinidad, Colorado.

The missing girls were not seen with Miles in the video. But Banks said police had received tips that the girls have been seen with Miles.

Miles is driving a gray 207 Hyundai Accent with Texas license plate JGH9845. If you have any information on there whereabouts you are asked to immediately call police.



The AMBER Alert for 14-year-old Lili Griffith and 7-year-old Lulu Bandera-Magret has been discontinued, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

There is no other information provided, including whether or not the girls were found safe, at this time.

The Round Rock Police Department says the alert has been discontinued in Texas, and is still ongoing in other places where they believe the girls could be.

RRPD says the young girls could be with 44-year-old Terry Allen Miles, a person of interest in the death of the children's mother, Tonya Bates.

Round Rock police said they were called out to a home on the 2600 block of Leslie Court on December 30.

Bates was found dead inside her home. Her boyfriend and a co-worker called police to check on her when they didn't hear from her.
