Dublin man, 20, killed when 18-wheeler crashes into Mustang in Comanche County
A 20-year-old Dublin man died in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday on US 36, four miles east of Gustine in Comanche County.COMANCHE COUNTY, Texas -
Killed was Jonathan Alejandro Escamilla. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to Comanche Funeral Home.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Escamilla’s 2014 Ford Mustang was stopped on FM 1702 – at the intersection with US 36 – when he pulled his vehicle onto US 36 and was struck by an 18-wheeler driven by a 27-year-old Copperas Cove man.
The two vehicles sailed off the road and into the “north drainage ditch,” DPS said.
A passenger in the Mustang – 17-year-old Manual Jose Escamilla – was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth “with critical injury,” DPS said in a news release.
The crash remains under investigation.
