KTXS Forecast: Drizzly days and possible ice
ABILENE, Texas - Moisture levels will increase tonight so lows will be higher than the the previous night. Our lows tonight will be in the mid to upper 30s with increasing cloud cover. Winds will be from the south at 5 to 10 mph.
Tuesday, patchy fog is possible in the southern and eastern parts of the Big Country early in the morning. Expect fog to lift to low, overcast clouds by mid-morning. Highs will be earlier in the day- mainly in the 40s and low 50s- as a cold front moves through. Winds will shift to the north at 15 mph with stronger gusts. Drizzly rain chances exist for the southern and eastern parts of the Big Country. After about 5 p.m., temperatures are expected to drop near freezing and combined with drizzly conditions, some areas could see some freezing rain and patchy ice. Be extra cautious on overpasses and bridges Tuesday night. Lows will be in the upper 20s.
Wednesday, damp and drizzly conditions continue. Temperatures will be in the upper 30s by the afternoon. Winds will be from the northeast at about 10 mph. Overnight, lows will be in the low to mid-30s.
Thursday, rain chances move out early in the day. Skies will clear slightly from west to east, letting temperatures warm back to the low 50s by the afternoon. Winds will slowly turn back to the south and east at 5 to 10 mph. Lows will be in the low to mid-30s.
Friday, expect a similar day to Thursday but with slightly more sunshine. Highs will be in the low 50s. Lows overnight will be in the upper 30s to low 40s.
Expect our warmest day of the week on Saturday. Skies will be mostly sunny and temperatures will warm to the low to mid-60s. Overnight, a cold front will approach the area once again. Lows will be in the upper 30s to low 40s.
A very strong cold front is expected to move through Sunday morning, holding temperatures steady into the afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 30s and fall through the day. Skies will be mostly cloudy by the afternoon. Overnight, temperatures will drop to the low 20s.
Expect a chilly start to the new year with temperatures in the 30s.
