KTXS Forecast: Keeping cool with freezing rain chances overnight.
Good morning! As you’re getting up conditions outside are mostly clear to partly cloudy with temperatures ranging from the low 20s to upper 40s and winds are out of the southeast at 5-10 mph. You will want a warm jacket when you head out and there will also be fog chances for many during the morning commute.ABILENE, Texas -
Tuesday afternoon highs are going to range a bit as our next cold front moves into the Big Country. Temperatures will vary from the upper 30s to low 50s with overcast skies and winds will turn to the north/ northeast at 5-15 mph. There will also be a 10-20 percent chance of scattered showers with the possibility of freezing rain as we move into the overnight hours. Tuesday night lows are expected to be well below freezing in the low to upper 20s with cloudy skies and continued freezing rain chances. You’ll need to keep an eye out during the Wednesday morning commute.
By Wednesday afternoon highs will only warm to the mid/ upper 30s with continued cloud cover. Winds will remain out of the northeast at 5-10 mph and precipitation chances will move out. By Wednesday night we will be in the upper 20s/ low 30s with cloudy skies.
Thursday through Saturday look like things will be relatively consistent. Highs across the region are going to stay below normal in the upper 40s to mid-50s with partly cloudy conditions and winds will mainly be out of the west/ southwest at 5-10 mph. Lows through this period are going to be in the mid-30s to low 40s with partly cloudy skies.
On Sunday, a strong cold front is expected to arrive in the Big Country. Highs will make it to the low/ mid-40s before it moves in, but after the front passes temperatures will drop quickly. Skies will be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy with winds turning to the north at 10-20 mph and there will be a 10 percent chance of isolated showers. By Sunday night lows will drop to the low/ mid-20s with cloudy skies.
Currently, for Monday, it looks like skies will remain mostly cloudy and highs will keep well below normal in the mid/ upper 30s across the region.
