ABILENE, Texas - Temperatures today stayed in the 30s as cloud cover hovered in the area. Far western areas did see some clearing skies Thursday afternoon and more of the Big Country can expect that into Friday.

For tonight, temperatures are expected to fall to the upper 20s to low 30s. Skies will remain cloudy overnight.

Friday, low clouds are expected to start the day and lift by late morning, giving way to some patches of sun. Temperatures will warm to the upper 40s to low 50s with south winds between 10 to 15 mph. Expect a milder night with temperatures in the upper 30s.

Saturday, cloud cover will increase through the day. Temperatures will reach the upper 40s to low 50s as a front tracks through the area. Patchy drizzle is possible into the evening which could deem bridges and overpasses unsafe as temperatures are expected to drop below freezing overnight. Temperatures will fall to the low to mid-20s.

Sunday, north winds continue and temperatures are expected to stay stagnant before falling more. Expect the chance of a flurry in the eastern half of the Big Country Sunday. Temperatures overnight will fall to the low teens with wind chills in the single digits.

It will be a very cold start to ring in the New Year. Temperatures will only get to the mid to upper 20s in the afternoon under partly cloudy skies.

Expect chilly temperatures to continue through the week.

Happy almost Friday! -MM-
