Thousands of toys and dollars collected at Brownwood toy drive
BROWNWOOD, Texas - Wendlee Broadcasting held its annual toy drive in downtown Brownwood on Wednesday.
The Brian Wade Toys for Kids drive collected thousands of toys and more than $6,000 in cash and pledges, according to Wendlee Broadcasting News Director Leland Acker.
"The Brownwood community has always been generous, especially when it comes to kids," Acker said. "Every year I think its going to outdo this year, but then the next year Brownwood always out does the year before."
The toys will go to the Brown County Toys for Kids program. On Saturday toys will be distributed at the Grand Starz Ballroom located at 2323 Belle Plain St.
Parents wanting toys for their children would have need to register by Wednesday.
The drive was renamed after the late Wendlee radio personality Brian Wade, who died suddenly last year due to health complications.
